Open PositionJOB SUMMARY
The Mechatronic/Machine Design Facilitator is a dual-focus role responsible for bridging the gap between production needs and Lean Automation Firms. As our facility transitions toward advanced automation, this individual will lead the design, optimization, and implementation of automated systems and machines for furniture production. The primary objective is to integrate Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies into the engineering lifecycle to eliminate waste, improve ergonomic safety, and maximize Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Design for machine development:
- Conceptualize and design custom automated machinery, jigs, and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
- Applying 5S and Six Sigma principles to machine design, ensuring all new equipment is standardized for ease of maintenance and intuitive operation.
- Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) protocols to streamline production and reduce material waste.
- Act as a technical liaison between the production floor and the automation team to ensure engineered solutions solve real-world operational challenges.
2. Coordinates machines with all parties:
- Translate internal manufacturing pain points and "Lean gaps" into high-level technical specifications for automated equipment.
- Author detailed Scopes of Work (SOW) and Technical Requirement Documents (TRD) for external vendors, defining mechanical tolerances, cycle times, safety protocols, and integration standards.
- Lead technical reviews with external machine builders to ensure their designs align with internal manufacturing standards and long-term maintenance capabilities.
- Analyzing to create the calculations sheet of cost savings report.
- Working with relevant departments with all paperwork needed to make purchase request.
- Manages the timelines for all the machines from purchase to delivery.
- Coordinating to ensure all department timelines are matching the machine timeline.
- Following up project management daily to ensure they are on schedule.
- Updating all management of changes being made to the schedules.
- Coordinate machine run-offs with travel department and vendors.
- Define and lead FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) while assisting with SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) protocols to verify that vendor-delivered machinery meets the original SOW and production KPIs.
- Monitoring the automation processes on an ongoing basis.
3. Maintains continuous personal development and business acumen:
- Keeps up to date on reading material in new machines fields
- Shares new knowledge with members of organization.
- Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- Continuously teach others when possible
4. Maintain reliable attendance.
5. Actively participate in departmental meetings, training, and education. Assist with training other employees and providing backup.
6. Adhere to departmental budget.
